Hi guys and girls,

I just building a new pc:
Motherboard: MSI H97 Gaming 3
CPU: Intel core i5-4590
VGA: Asus GTX 770 DCUII OC
Case: Zalman Z5 plus
Ram: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz 2X4 GB KIT
HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB 7200rpm EZEX
I have an FSP Aurum S Gold 500W 80+gold rated psu with a single 12V rail. So my question is that, is it enough for me to run this system even if i push a bit the VGA? I know the requirement is 600W but i know that too, that it is for bad psu-s and FSP Aurum series is not bad at all.
Can you help me out? Thanks!

Solution
CPU is rated at 84W.
Graphics card is rated at 230W.
Allow 40W for other components.
Only load the supply to 80% of rating.
This means you want a supply with a 12V rating of 444W or 37A.
Your supply looks ok.
Good quality supply.
Rating on the combined +12V rails is 432W.
You could push this to a 220W graphics card.

The GTX 770 is rated at 230W and I think you would be pushing your luck.
The GTX 970 mentioned above has much higher performance and is rated at 145W so would be fine with your current PSU.

It is a newer Gold S psu not the older one. It has one Single 12V rail rating on 468W. I think the difference between the "S" and the non S version is the 12V rail that is single in the S version and you have 2 in the non S version.
Thank you for your reply, so you think this psu will be enough for me? I dont know how much power the other components are need. And i already bought the 770 so i cant buy the 970.
