Way to generalize because a few random failures.
RMA isn't so bad you know
A "few" random failure are you fucking kidding me? The number of people who can't seem to get 290s working is about the same as the number who do. I wish I knew this before I bought it, but the more reseach i do, the more and more all I find is horror stories. I don't remember any card in recent memory that had this many horror stories compared to good ones.
The problem is, under certain rare conditions, these cards may actually work for a few minutes or hours, so when they test the card when you are trying for a refund or RMA, you either get the same card back, a new card and have the same problem, or get charged restocking fees, plus the cost of the free games. All this, in order to get a refund for a product that should have worked in the first place.
So many people (who have computers and power supplies that meet and/or exceed the requirements for this card) have been screwed hard with their R9 290 purchase and have nothing but a really expensive paperweight, or they had to shell out 15% restocking plus 60 bucks for the cost of the free games (games which they might not have even cared about). All this extra cost just because they bought a card that doesn't fucking work right..
Most people who do have "working" 290s, are just people who manage to have their cards only black screen sometimes rather than all the time.
