My Laptop has USB 3.0 Ports. I have USB Hub with 3.0 Ports. My HP LaserJet Printer 1020 Plus is not recognized by these USB 3.0 Ports as it requires USB 2.0 Port. I need USB Port convertor to connect Computer OR HUB with 3.0 Port on one side & HP Printer cable with USB 2.0 requirement.

I'm having the same issue, everywhere online says it should be backwards compatible, but my printer isnt working and when I troubleshoot it it says its because its a 2.0 usb in a 3.0 usb drive. Will buying a new printer cable work or will that not work because the printer is made for a 2.0 usb?

We have come across this anomaly a number times, i.e, incompatibility between USB 2.0 & USB 3.0.

Not only affecting printers, but other USB 2.0 devices as well which will refuse to operate when their USB 2.0 cable is connected to a USB 3.0 port. And a change in the cable affords no relief. But experience no difficulty when connected to a USB 2.0 port. And the "problem" USB 3.0 port is not a problem at all - other USB 2.0 devices will be happily compatible with it.

Yes, we're all aware that there is "backward compatibility" between USB 3.0 - USB 2.0. All the specifications and assorted "experts" tell us that. But this incompatibility DOES exist in our experience. Unusual - even rare - but it DOES happen.
