g3258 + asus h81m-e overclock help

Hello guys, i wanted to upgrade to a cheap gaming build so i went from my old q6600 to a pentium g3258 since i've seen some good reviews for normal to high gaming.

My cpu is fully stable (aida64,prime95) at 4.3ghz with 1.275v stock. I was able to push it to 4.4ghz with 1.32v stable but now i want to push a bit more, although i can't keep it stable on 4.5ghz and here is where i need your help. I cannot find a decent guide telling more in depth about bios settings other than just tweaking the voltage and disabling EIST and C state.

My build is as follows:

Cpu: Pentium g3258
Mobo: asus h81m-e
Ram: kingston valueram 8gb 1333mhz cl9
Gpu: evga 650ti boost 2gb superclocked 192bit
Psu: thermaltake hamburg 530w 80+
Ssd: kingston hyperx 120gb
Monitor: Lg 27" 1080p

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Not the same kind of overclock as Kentfield ..You really need a Z87 or Z97 motherboard to get that 4.5GHz and beyond.

I've read articles saying that they were able to achieve 4.5+Ghz on their g3258 using an H81 Mobo.

One of those articles is this http://www.ukgamingcomputers.co.uk/overclocking-pentium...

I have your same motherboard and cpu combo and was able to get 4.5ghz on one chip and 4.7ghz on my second. I delided both chips to replace the thermal compound under the the heat spreader. The voltages were 1.277 for the 4.5ghz and 1.286 for the 4.7ghz chip. I left the chip cache speed at 3.2ghz since benchmarks show that to make a very minor difference in performance. Load Line Calibration set to Extreme, CPU Current Capability set to 140%, CPU Power Phase Control set to Extreme and CPU Power Duty Cycle set to Extreme. I left everything else on auto except for setting Vcore voltage to Manual and adjusting the turbo multiplier for the cores. I am using a 2x2GB-1600Mhz ram configuration as in the past for me personally, higher density sticks reduced my maximum overclock and my ram is limited to 1333Mhz by the CPU, I adjusted the timings to be tighter because of that.

Oh,... I see. Luckily the Overclock is much more dependent on the CPU then it ever was.still plays more of a role for higher stable overclock. Are you able to unlock the Multiplier now? Just don't dial your end settings right from the start.
