I've been wanting to build a gaming PC for some time now, but it was only when my mate built one for around £650 that I seriously started to consider it. Here is a list of the components I was thinking of getting. What do you think?

Intel Core i7 i7-4790K CPU (Quad Core 4GHz, Socket H3 LGA-1150) £249.99 http://tinyurl.com/np6d3aa

Asrock Z97 Extreme4 Socket 1150 VGA DVI HDMI DisplayPort 7.1 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard £108 http://tinyurl.com/ko7gb48

Seagate 1TB Barracuda Internal Hard Drive - OEM £45 http://tinyurl.com/ocj3g8u

Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory £56 http://tinyurl.com/o3camsn

Samsung SH-224DB 24X Internal DVD Writer with SATA – OEM £13 http://tinyurl.com/mpttt4x

Zalman Z11 Plus High Performance Mid Tower Case £50 http://tinyurl.com/p9llhtx

Seasonic S12II-620 Bronze 620W £60 http://tinyurl.com/lh2kkmk

Solution
Get a custom cpu cooler.

Get 2 x 4gb ram, not 1 x 8 - unless you're buying another soon after

How do you know if you need a 600W PSU if there's no Graphics Card?

Honorable
For a gaming PC you'll only need an i5. i7's are really only necessary for editing and rendering, most games don't take advantage of hyperthreading so they don't provider any benefits over an i5 4690k.

I've got my eye on a couple of graphics cards and I'm just thinking about futureproofing
