Chossing MSI 970GTX or MSI 780GTX

Hey Guys :)

i'm one step closer to build a new PC :) , i was waiting to see the 900GTX Series from Nvidia and i'm happy because i waited that long (i was actually waiting to collect more money for the build hehe :D ) i love the new 970GTX but i don't know its pricing yet in our country.

The thing i saw is that this card have less CUDA Cores and Memory Bus interface comparing to the 780GTX and also much less floating-point performance, is this gonna affect a thing or Maxwell gonna handle the lost?

i'll have the choice between this Card the 970GTX MSI/ASUS or the older MSI 780GTX , was thinking about getting an AMD GPU but i like Physx and Shadowplay and this isn't on AMD cards..

It's my understanding that, though there are less CUDA cores, each core is much more efficient, making the 1664 perform somewhere along the lines of a card with 2000 or more. (I forget the rules about posting external links on here, but I do have a source for that)

Unsure about the GFlops part.

Get yourself the MSI Twin Frozr V 4gb 970 (£275) on 3DMark Extreme it outscores the 780ti by around about 300 score plus if you use the MSI gaming app you can safely use the OC mode which is still covered by MSI warranty in which it outperforms the 780ti on all games that I have seen it benchmarked against anyway. Plus it looks awesome and uses less power.

Lower cuda core count and the smaller memory bus does not effect performance at all. A gtx 970 is faster than a gtx780 even at 1440p and beyond. Maxwell has increased the l2 cache size, decoder compression, and many other things that are related to memory performance and the cards overall speed. Not to mention, increased the efficiency of the cuda cores over Kepler cores by around 30 percent clock for clock.

You would have to be crazy(imo) to buy a 7 series card over a 9 series right now. The 970 should be cheaper, as fast or in some cases faster than the 780ti, and uses less juice from the wall.

I would only buy a gtx 780 if I could get is much cheaper than the gtx970, other wise, it's not worth it.
