So ive just recently ordered the AMD Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X 4GB Graphics card for £280. I have just noticed a Nvidia Zotac GTX 780 OC 3GB for £290 all in all. Which of these cards is most worth the investment at these prices? I can cancel my order if needs be. Im looking for stock performances however as i will overclock the card myself, so the fact that Zotac has factory Overclocked the 780 is irrelevant.
Card will be used for gaming mostly.
Using 750w psu.

Thanks

Solution
Don't go for either. Get a gtx 970. Better performance at all resolutions, much cheaper, cooler, efficient and silent. Overall it is a massively better pick than either.
At 1920 x 1080 the GTX 780 outperforms the R9 290x in all areas. At higher resolutions, expect the R9 290X to deliver slightly better performance.

The AMD card will run hotter, noisier and draw more power, however. At peak load expect the R9 290X to exhibit as much as a 95°c temperature, while the Nvidia card will hover much closer to 80°c.

If you're considering overclocking either card you may want to consider an after-market cooling solution. Arctic Cool and NZXT offer easy to install GPU coolers if you aren't going for a full liquid-cooling system.

Hope that helps.

Its not a 290x but a regular 290. The tri-x refers to sapphires cooling system. Am i to take this that the 780 is the better choice as the 290x is superior to the 290?
EDIT: I am running two 1920 x 1080 60hz monitors.

Yes. Get it over the two at any cost. It is a massively better option.
