Hey,
This is my first build but please do not go right to the "he's a first time builder, dumb mistakes" suggestions please because i have spent the last 3 days troubleshooting this and have tried almost everything and checked for every noob mistake.

My build:
case: CM storm stryker
cpu: intel i5-4690k
mobo: asus z97-a
psu: thermaltake TR2 600W
hdd: 1tb seagate 7200rpm
gpu: asus gtx 660 DC20-2GD5
ram: 8GB hyperX 1866

Ok so my problem is just that i carefully installed my graphics card and when plugged in hdmi or any other connector i get no display, the vga led lights up for about 1 second beeps 1 time then goes to post and boots fine.

in my bios i go to the pcie graphics page and it says nothing is in pciex16_1 or pciex16_2 and i have also tried it in my third pcie slot still no detection.

the pcie psu wires are plugged in firmly my bios indicates it is getting its full 12v.
i have reseated the card several times,
nothing is lodged behinde the motherboard, i flashed the bios to latest version,
installed disc driver but nvidia will not let me install latest because it does not detect the hardware.

i unplugged every power source except the mobo and vga, took 1 ram out unplugged all fans except the heatsink fan, and tried to see then still no detection,

the gpu led goes to indicate power and both fans are running stable.

what else can i do i feel lost now?

First I'd try both the 6 pin and the 6+2 pin connector (munus the +2 part). Then if I could I'd either try another card in your machine, or the 660 in another machine.

If there is sufficient power going to the gpu there should be two green LEDs lighting up corresponsing to the power input. If there is a faulty one is should be red.
