I have been looking at different graphics cards for a while and when I saw the R9 290 I felt it was a graphics card that would last a while and do well in that time. I currently have a HD 7770 which works well for most of the time. The switching of graphics cards is a thing I have never done nor seen so I would like to know 3 things before I even start considering to buy this card.

1. Does my PSU have enough wattage to handle the R9 290? My PSU stands at 600 watts and I would like to know if that is enough or maybe I should consider and different card (just for reference my computer specs are here and if any other information is needed then I can assist). It seems like it is enough power but I have no idea how much my card now needs compared to how much the new card will need.

2. How do I switch the cards? I can imagine that it is very simple to just unscrew where the card is hooked up, pull out the cords and then reconnect them to the new card but I want to be completely sure. If there are any extra steps I need to take I want to be sure to take them. I don't want something to explode violently. I also need to know if it will fit properly. The question then being: Will the R9 290 fit in the same spot at the same size as the HD 7770?

3. Will my computer be compatible with the new card? I don't really think that it will fail in any way but again I just want to be sure that everything will be fine. If you didn't see my computer specs before you can get them here. I just need to know if the things like the motherboard are going to work fine with it and so on.

Thank you for your time and I hope you can help me with all of this.

First things first: I think right now an R9 290 is a bad idea:
The gtx 970 has been release for 80$ less and gives MUCH better performance at VERY low temps and a wattage of 148W. Therefore abandon the thought of a 290 and get a 970. For sure. You wouldn't need to bother about the cooling either.
As for the compatibility, I don' think you'll have any problems.
