Hi,

I tried to help my wife restaurant. There is a post machine which is working via Internet. When a device connects to WAN, the connection goes away...We need to reset the modem for getting a connection. The device is a bit old Thompson TG787.

What I tried:

Gave static IP to POS Machine but it did not solve the problem.

The Thompson TG787 has 4 ethernet ports on the back. It should allow 4 devices to connect. Does your device look like the one on page 22 of this manual? If so you should be able to plug in 4 internet devices into the 4 yellow plugs.

Yes, the back is the same but the machine is black one. I think that this model is one newer than what we had. I do not have any problem with LAN. The problem is when a new device connects to the wireless, the whole connection was gone. We need to reset the modem.

Let me explain it a bit detailed.

POS Machine is connected with a LAN cable to port 1 - yellow.

When a new device enters to the restaurant, the connection of POS Machine and the wireless connection became unstable. These devices does not have any static IP and they are all assigned to get automatic IP. Is it clearer now?

So, let me get this straight ... You are letting customers have wireless access to the same device that your Point of Sale (at least I assume that is what you mean by POS) is connected to? I also assume the credit card transactions are handled through the POS. If that is the case you have a serious security issue. If my interpretation is correct, you need to get a dedicated line for the business completely separate from the internet connectivity you let customers use.

If I am WAY off on my interpretation, then I need a little more description....

Hi,

Sorry for my late response, was offline for a few days. The situation is exactly same as you describe. We are not sharing the internet but only staff is using it...The problem is when a device is connected to this wireless network, internet connection drops...
