Im building a new PC and I want to use 2 hard drives- 1 terabyte new hdd, and 1 a dell optiplex 780 hard drive because it has all my stuff on it. Will it work? Or are dell hard drives proprietary? Thanks.

Solution
Yeah...120GB is small and slow. A 1TB for $50 would serve MUCH better.
Or a 120GB SSD for the OS and applications, and the 1TB for everything else.

A hard drive is a hard drive is a hard drive.

What you are really asking, I think is "will the existing OS and application install work on the new PC?".
Almost certainly not.

You will almost certainly need to do a full reinstall of the OS.
And the license key from your Dell may not work with new hardware.
What OS is it?

No im gonna install Windows 8 on the new Hard Drive, i just want the Dell hard drive for the save games and stuff, but just realized it would be a stupid idea since the dell is 120gb and is slow as balls. So yeah, thanks for the response man, but ill just use steam cloud.

I would not install the old drive, install Windows on the new drive, then install the old drive and copy the files from the old drive to the new one. Because of the drive's age, I would suggest the best utilization of the drive is either a temporary external drive or a paper weight.....LOL.
