With the new Maxwell-based new GPUs coming out, I am tempted to get myself a GTX970 to replace my old HD7870. However, my current CPU is a 3570k that came out more than 2 years ago.

So I was wondering if the new graphic card is gonna be severly bottlenecked by the CPU and if I should wait for Intel's new generation of CPUs.

Thanks.

Your GPU won't bottleneck ANY GPU on the planet, let alone this one. You can get a 295X2 in crossfire w/o any bottlenecks, feel free to upgrade, no bottlenecks CPU wise :)

Hmm, i would disagree. You could quite easily get a game that his GPU could handle that his CPU cant. My GPU currently has a 1 ghz clock and i have an old 1ghz cpu in an old computer that can fit my mobo, if i then go and play a 20k+ troop battle in total war rome 2 then I'm gonna hit one serious bottleneck. Sure my GPU could handle it, but that's a lot of calculations, far too many for an old 1ghz cpu.

However, you are right about his current CPU not bottle necking a 970.

How are we supposed to compare a 1Ghz CPU to a quad core 3.8GHz CPU?
Fyi, this CPU can handly ANY game without bottlenecking ANY GPU available in the market. It just can't bottleneck.

How is your old cpu in any way related to a 3750k? It is still top end and would be fine even woth 2x gtx 980

Hmm, my apologies, I misread your post, for whatever reason I read it as you saying no CPU could bottleneck any GPU. My bad, it's been a long day :(
