Iv'e recently purchased a Asus AMD Radeon R9 290 DirectCU II OC. I am really not overly impressed with the performance considering the price.

I average about 35 fps in Crysis 3, but these can dramatically drop to around 20. Settings are on 1080p very high, AAx16, FXAA.

Are these results about right, am I expecting to much out of one GPU?

My Specs:
Windows 7
AMD Catalyst 14.4
FX-6200 @ 4.2 GHz
8GB DDR3-1333MHz
750w PSU
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3

Heaven Score: 1252

Actually prob looks like it might be a little low, but the 6200 plays in also, Crysis is fairly CPU intensive, are you OCed at all?

Damn, the CPU is running 4.2 from 3.8 stock. Any advice on what can be done about the performance?

Thanks will try. Would the slow ram speed have anything to do with it? Is 1333 MHz slow for gaming?

It might help, AMD rigs don't utilize DRAM as well as Intel due to their weaker MCs and 1600 is basically considered entry level these days
