Hi all, I'm In a bit of an annoying situation. About a month a go ai ordered an EVGA 770. I was having a lot of problems with card making rattling sounds so I decided to return it to Amazon in exchange for the Asus model. The Asus card arrived last week and is working much Better noise wise. What's really annoying is just after the card arrived the 900 series was announced. I wouldn't mind all that much if there was a price difference but the prices are pretty much identical. I'm not sure if there is a huge performance difference between the two I know the 970 uses less power than the 770 and has more vram which I think is a pretty big deal going forward.

Anyway has anyone else found themselves in a similar situation? Would you suggest just sticking with the 770?

Thanks

no point regretting now
since you have already bought your gpu
stick with it
unless you can return it to the retailer
the 970 beats the 770 by leaps and bounds
it also beats the 780
has more VRAM DX12 support and a few new features

If you're able to return the GTX 770 and get the GTX 970 in return, without paying for a new card. Then absolutely go for it.
The GTX 970 is only about ~7% slower than even the GTX 780Ti, and this is before tapping into its overclocking headroom.

The 770 and 780 also have DX12 support.

Are you in the UK? If you have had the replacement less than a month I think you can return for a full refund under consumer rights. Might be worth a Google or just asking Amazon.

If you can get a refund or replacement for a 970 (I'm not sure if they'll be willing to do it), then you can surely go for it. 770 isn't a weak card at all btw, but 970 just has some great features for the price so go for it if it doesn't cost you $$$.

I would consider returning it.I'm sure Amazon would let me. My only issue is unfortunately I've ended up returning a good few items recently for one reason or another(often due to faulty items) and don't really want to push my luck. Its damn annoying though. If only I'd known the 970 series was going to be priced the same. Amazon have the 970 Asus version priced at 429.99 that's probably just a placeholder though.

I'm in the same boat. Got the gigabyte gtx 770 from newegg with a $30 dollar rebate a couple of weeks ago. I thought the new cards were going to be at least $400 dollars. Now I'm wishing that I had just waited. Oh well. I can't return because I filed the rebate so I'm just going to have to stick with the gtx 770. I think for amazon though, that if there isn't an actual issue with the card, you still have to pay some kind of restocking fee right? It might not be worth the extra cost then. If you're running an 1080 p monitor, the gtx 770 is fine for that anyway.

Yup. Bought the same one in early summer and now I'm kicking myself being it was about $40 more than the 970 is going for (4GB model). Should have just waited but I though the new ones were coming months later and would probably be as expensive. Now if I sold it I'd take a huge hit (since they're going for way less than $300 used).
