Wanting to upgrade my GPU, need some assistance

Alright, so I've been getting frame issues in certain games I play and I think I need a new graphics card.

Specs:
AMD FX 6300 3.5GHz 6-Core CPU
2 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
MSI 970A-G46 Motherboard
PNY XLR8 GTX 650 1GB
Corsair CX500W (I have to upgrade, I know)

So I play games like CS:GO, Minecraft, and Battlefield 3 but see framerate issues in BF3 and CS:GO, but not in Minecraft because a GTX 650 has no issues with that whatsoever. Anyhow, I'm looking to get 60FPS on high or ultra settings @ 1080p on BF3 compared to the 30 I get at the moment. On CS:GO I get about 80 fps but it seems choppy so I'd need something a little bit better for that as well. I've had AMD cards in the recent past and have had bad experience with them so I'm looking to get a NVIDIA card. Any suggestions would help.

Well the new 970 would take care of those issues. But I was going to recommend a 280X even though it is AMD.

Are you sure my processor and motherboard could handle a 970?

Your CPU will occasionally bottleneck a 970. PCs with Intel Core i5/i7 CPUs will handle it a lot better. The GTX 960 should be out next month.

Yeah, I was going to see about the 960 or perhaps waiting until the 700 series cards' prices fall.

The 700 series should start falling really soon. Like Joseph said it will probably bottleneck the 970. But the value right now and the performance is almost too much to pass up.

The 970 is indeed the best value. Even a pair of 970s in SLI is a way better value than a single 980.

So should I get an FX 8350 and upgrade my power supply to get a 970? And if so, what brand of 970?
