Did you installed the card in the x16 PCIe Slot? Did you installed all your drivers?

By the way, ASUS boards are much more performant.

i did all of that but still nothing.

Is your CPU usage high?
Minecraft is more a CPU intensive game.

Did you install the card in the PCI-E slot with the highest number of lanes (unlikely to be a problem)?
The problem might also be caused by CPU throttling. Did you screw up the CPU cooler installation (very unlikely)?

Can you post your temps and a picture of windows task manager (the tab where you can see CPU/RAM usage)

(very unlikely solution, but whatever) Did you update your BIOS to the latest version?

When you click Reply to (poster name), there's a little picture icon on top of the space where you write stuff. Click that and it will prompt you for a link. Paste the link to your picture and you're good to go!

Sounds like temps to me. To get an accurate reading, we need to see the temps when the FPS drop.

Might be the famous Minecraft GPU clock problem

Minecraft isn't intensive enough and sometimes doesn't cause the graphics drivers to enable 3d clocks on the GPU. Its caused by a bug in the GPU drivers

It more commonly affects AMD cards but NVidia drivers can do it too.

What is your core and memory GPU clocks while running Minecraft?

MSI afterburner and probably EVGA precision
should display your GPU clocks

Pictures are not showing up.

You can post them to somewhere like postimg.org and link them if you can't inline them

Your temps are changing constantly. They have spikes and this is what is causing the fps drop.

33C is not warm enough to throttle. It is actually almost cold for a computer component
The usage spikes are causing the temperature variance not vice versa.

But I cannot see your current clocks. You probably need to scroll down in the "hardware monitor" section

Perhaps OP's card is faulty?

I doubt it as the 4790k will max minecraft with no GPU.

Those temps are perfectly fine. No issues there at all.

This is not true or even how it works. Temps are always fluctuating. This is how normal CPU operation looks. This has NOTHING to do with it.

OP, disregard this guy's post please.

So what do you guys think i should do because im pretty sure with my specs i should be getting much higher fps in this game.

Please post a picture of the GPU clocks while running Minecraft.

In MSI afterburner where you posted the temperature and usage, scroll down a little and it should say
Core clock, MHz
and
Memory clock, MHz

Take a picture of those

Dumb question, but you have the monitor connected to the GPU, not the motherboard right?

second question. Are the Windows power options set to performance or balanced? If they are set to power saver, you will lose performance.

Your memory clock is bouncing back and forth this might cause fps drops

And your memory clock spikes correspond to the temperature spikes

Any ideas of how to fix this? But still shouldnt i be getting fps in the hundreds with my specs?

You are wrong...Memory clock changes ALL THE TIME based on usage. It is 100% normal to fluctuate in gameplay. It is SUPPOSED to do that.

This is not causing anything.

What should i do, is the card faulty?

No I believe the card is perfectly fine.

Have you checked the power options as I instructed?

the power options are set to balanced.

In the power options ensure that the max CPU usage is set at 100%.

Your clocks are stuck in 2d mode. This is a common problem with Minecraft.

I know a lot of people install the shader mod to get around this particular problem. There may be other work arounds as well

Ok, power problems do not seem like it.

Does the system run other games as it should? This can help determine if it is just a minecraft issue or not
m
0
l
September 20, 2014 5:06:16 PM

it runs battlefield 4 on ultra with no lag, very smooth.
m
0
l
September 20, 2014 5:08:04 PM

So, the GPU and CPU are not the problem then.

The issue here lies with minecraft. Are you running any mods?
m

nope no mods

smeezekitty suggested something about clocks being stuck in 2D mode. I play alot of minecraft and have never heard of that, but maybe it is something to look into.

You might *need* to run mods to get the GPU to clock up
m

l
September 20, 2014 5:13:05 PM

i have no idea what that is, do you have any other suggestions or what being stuck in 2d mode means?
