hi :D  . thats not a good Upgrade .

1. Gains are not that big
take a look : http://anandtech.com/bench/product/1032?vs=1043

2.7970 is little old considering new GTX 980 and upcoming AMD 390x

Suggestions for noticeable BOOST and least regression and Longer Use and being much more FutureProof :

1.GTX 970 2.GTX 980 3.AMD 290/290X

I don't think OP will want to throw away the 270X he/she already has for a 290/290X.
My advice: Since you already have the 270X, get another 270X in CFX.

Single VGA is always better than Crossfire/SLI

reasons :

1.Not all games are compatible with SLI/Crossfire and gains are minimal on such cases and you gotta wait pretty long time for its driver profile

2.It Produces more heat . needs more PSU and sometimes its not stable .

GTX 980 and AMD 290X are great upgrade options . take a look at their benchmarks .

So you really want OP to throw out his/her perfectly good 270X? Wow...

I wouldnt throw it away.. :D

i can get ~120€ selling it.

so the upgrade would cost ~60€

Im on a tight budjet..else i would get an GTX 970

and just FYI, have read some reviews about the 7970 matrix platinum and it overclocks ~1300/1700

As I said, you could get another 270X right now and after 3-4 years sell the two fo them to get a newer GPU. No point in getting an 290/290X when you already have a decent card.

I dont really like mid range crossfire setups.

i can get an used 7970 at almost the same price as used 270x (270x c.fire would cost me ~130€)
or i sell my 270x for 120€ and buy 7970 ~180€ and i can buy a 2nd 7970 later for ~150€

2x270x TOTAL cost ~250€
2x 7970 (280x) ~ 320€

Sure. Make sure the used cards work, though:)

the 7970 matrix platinum has 2 year store warranty, so no worries. :D

I agree about the mid-range multi-card setups. I am currently using two gtx660ti's (upper mid level cards. slightly more powerful than a 270x or about the same in some cases) in SLI. Yes the performance is great in games that have good SLI profiles, but when you go play an indy game or a games without a good SLI profile you are just stuck with a single mid-range card and its frustrating. For this reason I am looking to go back to a single high end card setup. I completely understand where you are coming from.
