So I bought a gtx 780 SC evga for 410$ it was on sale I was shocked at first that they would drop 100$ off randomly out of the blue. Well the following day the new series comes out and my question is if I were to use the 780 where would it stand in the lines of future proof and performance among other higher series cards. I feel like I got ripped of but I would like some opinions of what I should do return it or use it. I bought this card for mostly arma 3 i play 1080p nothing crazy just thought I was getting the top of the line card which it wasn't at the very top but pretty damn close. I am sure the 780 will meet my needs but just want to know if I got ripped off..

You can do the EVGA Step Up Program if you want to upgrade...check their website.

The GTX 780 is still a really good card...and no you did not get ripped off. There are always new components coming out, and it has been announced that the new 900 series would be released around this time frame. Proper research could have helped avoid this issue, and sure there are new components such as GPUs that can get released sort of randomly, but not in this case.

So you can either continue to use and appreciate your 780 or you can do the Step Up Program and trade it in for the 970 or 980 if you want. After checking out the Step Up Program, you may decide to do that, and it is a really good deal.

You can just overclock it and the 970 is not that much faster... I'm in the same boat, I bought 2 GTX 780s about 3 weeks ago overclocked them to 1100mhz each and just forgot all about the 900 series. Besides these aren't even 20nm maxwell cards. Just hold on to the 780 until the 20nm cards are available. That's the real upgrade.
