On the back of the case there are four Phillips screws on the sides of the back. But at the top there are 2 more screws that I cannot figure out how to get out. I have a kit with many types of heads - star, torx, hex, etc. Nothing seems to fit.

just to be sure, this is your computer? and you are talking about the two silver circles on the top piece of black metal?

If so, the two on the top are rivets, and you can not remove them without drilling them out, which is not the easiest thing to do, but is possible.
However, that top piece being rivited on adds a lot of strength to the case, and, if removed, could be damaged much more easily.

If you do decide to drill them out, make sure to use a small drill bit, probably 1/8", so you can re rivit them again if you want to.
