Hello,
I know this is very old but I could not seem to get an answer. I have an old PC with Windows XP Professional (x86 I believe) freshly installed. It used to be an old PC that they had at my work, but they upgraded at work and were going to throw these away so I picked this "old" one up hoping I could do some simple tasks on it. So I did a clean install of XP and it seems to run well. Now, I purchased some RAM because it only had 1GB before, so I went out and bought 3GB (1GB x 3) more so I could max it out to 4GB. So I install it and I think everything is running well. I even checked the BIOS and it said I had 4GB installed. So the BIOS recognizes the 4GB, but XP does not. When I go to my system properties, it shows "1.00 GB of RAM". I've done all the system updates I can but it still shows only 1GB. I'm worried because other people have had at LEAST 2GB show up when having 4GB installed, so it's strange that it only shows 1GB. I even used CPU-Z and it shows 4GB. Again, I know that there was some errors with XP 32-bit, but all I want to know is that my PC is actually using the 4GB. I don't care if it only shows 1GB, but as long as the 4GB is being utilized, that's fine with me. Anyways, I'll post some of my specs here, and thank you for reading. If there is a way to fix this and show more than 1GB, please post. Any help is appreciated.

These were the extra 3GB of RAM that I picked up:

Yes, I do have the latest BIOS. I'm sorry but how do I raise the DRAM voltage? I'm not that advanced..

After messing with the motherboard, I narrowed down the problem to the new RAM sticks that I had purchased. Turns out, one of the three that I purchased was defective and I'll be returning it. Thank you all for your help!
