Could a CPU handle graphics?

So, while thinking about the power of hardware in mobile devices nowadays, I was wondering if a CPU could handle rendering/displaying graphics from games. Obviously not in something demanding, but could a 4790k play doom with IGPU turned off and no discrete graphics cards?

Doom didn't use a GPU when it came out, because there was none at the the time. It only used the CPU, and that was the CPU's of that time so much much slower than todays.

So yes, a current CPU handles Doom very very well.

Hello,

If you will turn off the IGP and also don't use another GPU, you will not be able to use your PC.
