Hi there my name is toly.

Yesterday I decided to clean my computer. I took out my ram to blow the dust off. I took off my cpu and My gpu.
When I installed everything back my computer did not want to boot anymore.

When I power up my computer my hard drive and disk drive light up. I can see my graphic card fan spinning but that's it

I'm getting no power to my cpu. Fan is not spinning and it's not heating up. No signal to monitor at all and keyboard mouse are dead.

The only part I think I screwed up while putting things back was that I accidently connected a 4 pin power cord into a random 4 pin slot. After I did that the power turned off and once I booted it up again the cpu fan stopped spinning. (Note:before this happend computer would still not boot at all. Only thing was cpu fan would actually spin).

So I've tried everything. I made sure everything is connected properly.

My computer is a bit old and I don't have much money to buy a new one. That same day before I cleaned my computer I ordered a new power supply unite. Another graphic card and 2 more gigs of ram.

My specs are.
Motherboard gigabyte ga-m57sli-s4.
Cpu amd Athlon 64x2
Ram corsair ddr2 xms2 cm2x1024-60 4
Graphic card ge-force 8600gts.X2 (have 2 cards runninh)
.

I'm thinking I may have fried my motherboard.

If you guys think it's the motherboard could you guys suggest a new motherboard for me. One that will allow me to use my 2 graphic cards. 4 slots of my ram and maybe I'll buy a new cpu. Also maybe a motherboard that would allow me to upgrade some stuff in the near future. And since I'm broke I can only purchase a motherboard off Amazon. Right now. All I have is a 500$ credit limite.

The only thing I use my computer for is to play world of war craft and to browse sites. If you guys could help me I would appreciate it so much. Thanks.

This one may work but check the cpu support list on Asus's website for your exact model

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0025ZOD7O/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1411257252&sr=1-3

Just to throw it out there but you could replace most of your system for just $320

try pulling all the fans other then the cpu fan from the system. also try clearing the cmos jumper to see if the mb will reset a lot of them if they see a dead short wont turn on till the cmos jumper is cleared. one thing before you buy the same mb to use the same ram and cpu see if the mb has a warranty on it look at the vendor web page put the serial number in on there rma checker. if it under warranty pay the fee to do an rma just put in mb stop working. right now the cheapest new parts are the 99.00 mb and cpu combo at micro center (g3258 and a z97 mb) a 8 gig ddr 3 dimm would be 80.00.

Is it possible you actually got dust into a ram slot or your cpu socket? Try giving them a blast with a can of air.

You could then try resetting the bios http://www.howtogeek.com/131623/how-to-clear-your-computers-cmos-to-reset-bios-settings/

I put the 4 slot power cord that I believe belonged to one of my hard drives into the 4 slot pins into the f panel area. (Retarded I know). That shut off the comp and after that cpu wouldn't work. I think I fried my mb.

I think I'm going to buy a new motherboard. I need one that will support my two graphic cards.

So I'm just going to keep my power supply and graphic cards geforce 8600gts.x2. I know it's old but it works.

Any suggestions? I am completely lost at which mb to buy. All I know is I need something to play world of warcraft. Lol

I can't find any new mobos online. My only suggestion would be eBay but SLI capable motherboards compatible with your cpu seem to be rare indeed.

Your entire system is very outdated and I would advise you start saving for a new system as you'll certainly need one in the not too distant future.

Basically you need to look for AM2 boards that will do SLI. If you think you've found one, go to the motherboard manufacturers website and check the cpu compatibility list for your cpu. Its fairly tedious and I've not had much luck so far :(
