I am looking at two different computers. One has an Intel i5 4440, with 4GB ram. The other has an AMD A8 7600, with 8GB ram.

I use the computer mostly for web surfing, email, listening to the internet, some online videos, etc. I'm not a gamer at all.

Which of these would I be happier with?

Realistically the i5 will perform slightly better in almost all of your tasks, though you would hardly notice the difference. Were you to go anywhere near CPU intensive tasks the i5 would win significantly, also were you to go towards any kind of graphically intensive work the AMD chip would be better - assuming there is no discrete GPU involved.

However, all of the tasks you have described will not give either of those two CPU any trouble at all. Personally I use an i5 for my PC that is in constant use, because I find the extra speed that little bit more satisfying. That said, I am considering using an A8-7600 for a steam gaming box to go by my TV, which can also stream, because that chip is more suited to those tasks without the...

Go for the cheapest one. If you will use the computer mostly for office stuff, you won't feel a huge difference in the performance. Both machines can easy handle the basic task without lack of power. 4GB ram is enought, I don't think you will ever reach 3.5GB+ of usage, for example. And both CPU are good to go.

The price difference is $20, so that is negligible.

I do a lot of multi-tasking (working from home, streaming videos, radio, etc), so i want something that is not going to lag or freeze, like the pathetic excuse for a computer I currently have (Sempron 150. really??? WTF was I thinking?????)
