Hi! I'm using a laptop and was very used to using two fingers on the trackpad to scroll and right-click with. However, one day the two-finger functionality simply stopped. I can still do all the one-finger operations with it that I used to be able to do, however.

After doing quite a bit of digging online, I saw many people suggesting that a setting got changed in the mouse's "device settings." However, when I go to control panel -> hardware & sound -> mouse, there is no "device settings" tab like everyone else describes. I also can't seem to find out how to uninstall/reinstall the correct mouse driver. Is the tab hidden away somewhere?

I'd really appreciate any help. For reference, I have an MSI GE70 laptop, purchased a little over two years ago. The issues with the mouse began around six months ago, and I have yet to get the two-finger functionality back. I occasionally plug in a USB mouse (since it's so annoying to scroll otherwise), so I'm not sure if that would affect getting the "device settings" tab back or not.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I solved this be disabling the "pointing device" in the BIOS, restarting, then re-enabling it in the bios.

Process,
Shut down pc.
Restart and press "F2" almost immediately to go into the BIOS
Select "Advance"
Press "enter" to select point device and arrow down to disable
press "F10"
save and exit
Up reboot.. immediately press the "F2" to go back into the BIOS
Enable the the "pointing device"
Press "f10"
save and exit
restart normally.
