I was going towards the 280x until the 770 had a price drop. Now they're even price and the 770 is a bit better. BUT. I plan on using the single card for about a year then getting a second for crossfire/SLI. Will that extra GB of VRAM make it worth it to get the 280x?

if you plan to xfire/sli then the 280x is a no brainer otherwise go 770 for single card. In new games the extra 1gb is totally worth it.
