Problems when upgrading to a new graphics card

Hello. I bought a computer not too long ago and it came with Intel HD Graphics 2500 (integrated). They're alright for small things, but I need better than that, so I bought a graphics card. It's a ZOTAC GT 430. I inserted the graphics card into the PCI slot and it fit just fine. Then I plugged in the HDMI cable into the GT 430's HDMI slot. I turned on the comp, nothing showed up. The monitor's light stayed yellow (as if my computer wasn't on, even though everything works). I switched the HDMI cable back to built-in graphics slot and the monitor lit up and everything was showing perfectly. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I even went into BIOS and switched the Primary GPU to PCI instead of iGPU, but still no luck (though I'm not exactly sure I did the process correctly). If anybody knows what to do, I'd really appreciate your help. I feel like I'm overlooking some simple step, I just don't know what it is.

My computer is an ASUS M Series - M11AA - 8 GB RAM - 1 TB HDD - 2.8 GHz Core i5 Processor. Windows 7 operating system. PSU is 350 watt.

The graphics card is a ZOTAC GT 430 PCI 512MB 64-Bit DDR3.

It doesn't fit in the PCIe, I have 4 slots for graphic cards (3 PCIe and 1 PCI). The only one it fits perfectly is the PCI.

Edit: Out of the three PCIe slots, it might fit into the big one, but it will sit strangely in there, with room left.

I also tried installing drivers with and without the graphics card in the slot, but it failed and said the hardware could not be found and it's not showing up in device manager either.

So, any ideas?
