Build
- ASUS Z87-A
- G.SKILL RipjawsX 32GB 4X8GB DDR3-1866 1.5V
- Cooler Master Storm Trooper EATX Full Tower Case
- EVGA mITX ACX CPU Cooler
- Intel Core i7 4790K (not overclocked)
- Samsung 840 Evo 250GB SSD
- WD 2TB SATA
- Be Quiet! Power Zone 850W
- ASUS GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB
- Windows 7 64bit enterprise
Issue:
The CPU_LED red light cold boot error, monitor display is on but says DVI no signal, usually when the CPU or power supply is off for more than 2-3 hours, that's when it always happens, and always on the first boot. No POST
I'd have to press the power button to turn it off, then the powering it on for the second time always makes it goes straight to Windows.
Once i am in windows everything's fine, no lock ups, freezing, no issues, I am just stumped what might be causing this.
What i've done so far trying to solve the error:
1. I updated the ASUS z87-a BIOS to 2103
2. Installed the ASUS driver for 4th gen intel processors, from their site.
3. updated all the drivers GPU, wlan card
4. loaded optimized defaults on the bios
5. memtested all the RAM sticks (all passed without errors)
6. tried to test one RAM stick per slot on the motherboard all worked properly
7. rechecked all the cables and if they are all fitted correctly
8. cleared CMOS
I have searched similar threads with the same problems but there's seems to not be any clear solution, the dates on these threads though are kind of old, i was wondering if there are any new solutions to the problem. Thanks in advance.

This is a common problem with a lot of Z87 owners, including myself.
There are a lot of threads about it. I do not know if anyone has compiled these threads and contacted ASUS support yet, but rest assured it doesn't seem to be a real problem just scary - flipping the PSU switch on/off seems to solve it.

I searched more about this and other people are having same problem, but with different power supplies...
I think its a glitch somewhere... I went into the bios and then the boot setup and disabled fast boot.
next day cold boot it started flawlessly... same about of boot time though this system is fast. 14 sec start.
will post again if it F***s up again...
