tl : dr - never buy Asus if you expect customer support and service.

Hello guys, my problem is that the cmos clock in bios keeps losing time no matter what i do.
My motherboard is ASUS Maximus V Formula
What I've tried:

Clearing CMOS
Changing battery and clearing cmos
Upgrading bios and clearing cmos
Installing different emi drivers
Reinstalling RTC drivers
Reinstalling windows(kinda pointless because clock loses time even while pc is off)
Turning off all possible devices and removing all possible hardware
Asking Odin to fix my MOBO
Threatening my mobo to smash it with a hammer(very scary)
Did I mention clearing cmos?

In any case, the problem persists and it really annoys me a lot.
Right now I'm basically pondering on sending it to RMA but 6 weeks without my precioussss pc would be very devastating as my internet addiction is strong and i wouldn't even know what to do with all the free time.

I would REALLY appreciate if you could help me out.
Thanks in advance!

I have an HTPC that looses about 1-2 minutes a week. Really sucks when you cut off a program you are recording early....the only resolution was to change my internet synch to be a daily operation (this computer is on 24/7). I have an identical machine on my wife's desk - the time is always accurate.....

Hum, I take it the date and year also change.
An this happens every time the pc is shut down then re started.

Check the board for Bios jumper pins, make sure the bridge or jumper is on the correct two pins for normal bios operation.
If the jumper is bridging the reset, it will always reset the time and date and year each time your system is powered off.
It can in some cases also the RTC to lag or loose time.

@i7baby
yes, i did.

@shaun
look, the clock loses time even while in bios... no restarts or anything fancy. Like a second every 3-5 minutes

@ronin
that's not reassuring =(

@blackbird
but... but I don't wannaaaaahhh..(fading away with quiet sobs)

I would launch a complaint on their website (forums), go to NewEgg.Com and give it a rating with your story, go to facebook and do the same thing....this isn't right.

Be courteous and to the point - slamming them as "evil" or "bad" will not get the point across....

I'm not waiting another 6 weeks not to mention emptying and filling my WC loop every time anew.

It doesn't even make sense to demand my money back since I'll be stuck with a 200EUR 1155 CPU without a mobo. ANd they don't produce high end of those anymore.

All the things i buy from Asus end up being broken one way or another be it Laptop my Essence STX Soundcard or the Motherboard.

Haven't had one good experience with them.

I guess I'll just sell this pc and not buy anything from Asus ever again in my life.

It might be an option in US but it sure as hell isn't one here in EU/Germany.

Have a nice day.
