Im looking to make a few upgrades to my PC.

Currently the most taxing program that I run is Wildstar online, which is not optimized very well. I will often drop to sub 30-40 frames on medium settings. I will also often play some steam games, none of which I have any issues with.

Here is my current build

i5 3350P w. stock cooler
GTX 770 (2gb version, not currently OC)
128 gb SSD boot drive
500 gb storage drive
550w seagate power supply
1440p 60hz apple display ( super minor moving damage, usable till I replace)

on an ideal planet with unlimited money I want the i7 4790K, GTX 980 and the Asus Swift PG278Q 144 hz 1440p G-synced monitor. in the real world I cant get all of this at once.

The question I have is what order to go about getting these pieces to notice the best bang for the money I'm spending. The monitor comes in as an obvious last since im already running at 1440 and mines usable for now. Will the processor I have act as a bottleneck if I upgrade to the GTX980 or will the money be better spent on the new processor and motherboard and get the card afterward?

the 770 is a very good gpu and is not outdated yet. myself i hold off till sky lake cpu next year. with the older haswell/brodwell cpu are going to end when skylake comes out(new mb pin out so that you cant drop a sklyake into a z97mb). I would do a new cpu/mb/ram combo in a year from now.

I know its a good GPU, but I'm looking to get more performance out of my PC. Im hardly getting a sustained 60 frames in 1440P at medium settings.Ive got some money to throw at this build and its ok if I have to upgrade again in a year, thats not an issue. I want to live stream what Im doing in games and record what im doing as well. I cant do that without seeing a performance drop, and im not even able to run at a full maxed out setting currently when its the only program open.
