Hey guys, hopefully someone can help me. I recently bought Logitech Z506 sounds (5.1).
My motherboard supports 5.1 - http://www.gigabyte.co.nz/products/product-page.aspx?pi...

I've got the Realtek HD Audio drivers installed, and currently have 5.1 selected in Realtek Audio Manager, I also have speaker fill checked. When I do a speaker test I can hear sound from all of the speakers.

When I go to control panel / sound and then test it there I can also hear the sound from all of the speakers. It's also set to 5.1 there.

It's really frustrating, but I can't think what I'm doing wrong / missing. Any suggestions??

Windows 7 x 64
i7 4770k
10G DDR3 Ram
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H
Geforce 780gtx

Cheers
Will

So, if you hear sound from all the speakers what's the problem?

When I do a sound test using the windows built in 'sound' program, or realtek sound manager - yes.
Any other programs I use only seems to play music/sound through the front left and right speakers.
It's not using any of the other speakers =(

Is it the same if you watch a video that's actually 5.1 audio? Like a DVD, for example?

Yup =(. Unfortunately it seems it's not outputting 5.1 for anything.

What kind of speaker set up to you have, do you connect the speakers to a receiver (Which powers them separately from the PC) or straight to the PC? what speakers do you have (model etc).

Logitech Z506 speakers

These are the speakers here: http://www.logitech.com/en-nz/product/surround-sound-sp...

Basically all the speakers plug into the subwoofer, and then from the subwoofer it connects into my soundcard. I've also got a cable running from the subwoofer that's basically the 'volume manager' - can't really think of a name for it. A remote maybe? But a wired one.

Thanks I'll download it and give it a go. Would you recommend uninstalling the realtek drivers beforehand?

You shouldn't have to but it sounds like a driver bug in gigabytes version of the HD audio manager

My HD audio manager looks like this one whiles yours looks like an older version perhaps
