So I was having issues with my computer booting up and had been for some time. A few other things pointed to it being a mother board issue. So I went and bought a new mother board put all the hard ware back in and loaded it up. Everything ran! Hey better than the old mother board. Well only problem was it wouldn't go past the windows loading screen. Tried a number of things. I'd also bought a new Hard Drive so I tried installing a new copy of windows. Well that works perfectly and I'm on it now. But the issue is if I plug my old hard drives in, one at a time or both, I boot up and get stuck on the windows loading screen again. I've quadruple checked that I'm loading from the new hard drive in Bios and I'm at my wits end as to why I can't seem to access my old hard drives.

I can't find a similar issue to mine anywhere but it does seem like this mother board has some issues playing nice with windows 7 for some reason.

OS: Windows 7 64 bit
Mother Board: Asus M5 A97 R2.0
CPU: AMD FX-6300 Six-Core 3.5GHz AM3+
GPU: GeForce GTX 660 3GB
RAM: G.SKILL F3-1866C8D-16GTX (2 8GB Sticks)
Power supply: Corsair CX600M
Hard Drives: The new one and the old important one are both 2TB Seagate drives.

Solution
Make sure your new OS HDD is in the first boot priority in bios.

Put the old HDD in another PC and rformat it to wipe it and get the old OS off it. Then put it back in your PC.
Did the old HD have windows on it too?

I'm not sure on that exact board, but I know on my Asus M5A99FX or whatever it is, I can tell a certain SATA port to allow "hotswap" so I can plug in a HD after windows has booted. Maybe try that to get your data off.

Yes both old hard drives have windows installed. Not sure how to set this mother board up to hot swap if I can.

Will do.
