i've had 2 or 3 wireless mouses that have just stopped working; they make the noise when i plug in the receiver; but then they don't work at all; and they were not too long ago....?? also, they are different brands, like 2 logitech,etc....i went out and bought a new one, and it won't work either. the red lights come on all of them, like when they work, and i've tried all usb ports and my wireless keyboard works fine...so i can't figure it out. why would all mouses suddenly not work?

Make sure you've installed their drivers - from a supplied disk or by downloading from their website.

yes, but....i was thinking...what if i uninstalled the drivers? would that be a bad thing? cos i'm scared to even try it! but when you first put the receiver into the usb port, doesn't the driver install itself then? i am clueless. sorry

If it is a standard mouse, Windows will have the driver and install it - plug n play. If not, you have to install the driver yourself.

i suppose these are all standard, because they ALL worked at one point. and i believe they would ALL still work had i not done something terribly wrong....... which i have no idea what i might've done. when i go to look at devices and printers, i see that i have like something that says (and it shows only one) "logitech unifying receiver" and shows a pic of it. ok, so then when i go to "mouse properties" it shows "HID-compliant mouse" under hardware---- but when i go to the first tab that says "buttons"-- it has "synaptic touchpad" listed as the device. so is something wrong with that picture? i am clueless about all of this. sorry.

Sounds to me that you need to get someone with a bit more knowledge and experience to help you out. Get a friend to help or take it to a shop.

i'm the one who changed it from "touchpad" to "mouse" tho---even tho i don't think that was really necessary. don't ask me why...???????? lol! anyway- maybe if i just removed the "hid compliant" mouses?

May be obvious, but make sure a fresh battery is installed. I use Eveready Gold or Panasonic Digital.
