What I want to do: I am an American living in Japan. I have a PS4 and Apple TV in addition to my general internet needs (browsing, email, downloads, etc.)

I would like to have two wireless networks, one running a standard connection from my Japan ISP, and another using a VPN tunnel back to the United States for Netflix, HBO GO, NFL package, etc.

What I have: Two wireless ASUS RT-N66 routers. One with the stock firmware and the other pre-loaded with DD-WRT.

I've not got very far in adding the second (VPN Tunnel) network, as I've daisy chained the DD-WRT router to one of the stock firmware router's four Ethernet ports. My understanding is that I would need to set up a bridge for this to work.

Before I dive into this, what else should I be prepared for?

Solution
You'd have to switching ISPs via Connect to a Network. So you won't need 2 routers for this. Unless you have 2 pcs/laptops - one for each router.

And again, you just plug them both into the one router anyway.
It should be pretty easy to setup. The main asus router support vpn passthough so it should just allow you vpn tunnel from the second router so you do not need to bridge or port forward anything.

DD-WRT like many free software is not documented the most clearly but it does a good job with vpn once it is setup.

Once you get more familiar with dd-wrt you may want to use only a single router. You can make it appear as 2 devices if you like but it also give much more flexibility in configuration so you do not have to switch you device between the SSIDs
