connecting laptop to tv via vga to vga

it was working fine; and now suddenly, when i go to source on my tv, and hit "pc" like usual; nothing at all happens except i have a blue screen on tv that says no signal.....it was working fine just a few days ago. ????

my tv only has the "pc" option; it doesn't actually say VGA. anyway....i got it working again by switching to another vga cable (an even more bulkier and hard to deal with one- why don't they make a streamlined slim one like an hdmi cable????! or do they??) as i was saying.......i switched cables; but now the colors on my tv display are so out of whack; even tho i did everything as directed as far as testing this- the thing with the dots, etc etc to calibrate color- but nothing worked. :(
