installing Windows from a USB plz help

I have a windows 7 iso that I put on a USB drive. I got a new hard drive, booted to bios successfully, Changed priority to the sandisk USB and pressed enter, says "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media..."

What am I doing wrong?

What did you use to make the USB bootable? The official Microsoft tool?

No I just did "format" after right clicking the USB. Then I simply winrar extracted the iso image (around 3gb) onto the USB. I then checked the USB and all the stuff is there. The setup exe etc

your USB isn't bootable,you should use "Windows 7 USB DVD Tool" to make a bootable USB.

When I use that to it says error invalid windows 7

I bought this PC from Craig's. I've done this before. My buddy did it for me last time though. He said the OS is in the thumb drive and should just plug and play. But its not. And he's in the army and isn't here to help like last time. I used another program called isotousb and it worked. I did that cus I was told the USB wasn't bootable. That program worked but its still saying insert proper drive etc etc when I try to boot from it

Might be helpful to tell you I used dariks boot and nuke before this. But didn't let it complete.

Transfered the USB files to a computer. Used a program imgburn to burn it to a DVD and make it boot able. Worked thanks
