I was wondering if anyone could tell me do I need a sound card as a gamer ? I got Logitech g430 headset for my birthday and noticed that it has 7.1 surround sound function. My motherboard is "ASRock z77 Pro 3" but I really have no idea if it is any good and if it does support 7.1. Would a soundcard help me to get a much better quality ? Im not an audiophile but still was wondering about it :)

No you don't. Just download 7.1 virtual software and make your headset/speakers support it. No one needs a sound card.

The g430 emulates 7.1 - 2.0 in and 7.1 out. As do all 7.1 and 5.1 headphones. The headphones will work OK on any mobo/case.

trust me on this, DONT USE VIRTUAL SURROUND! either get real surround (home theater) or stick with 2.1. i only use headphones on my computer and i tried the 7.1, its to fake for me. plus you can hear when things are behind you in 2.1. not physically of course but you know. and sound cards are a great idea in my opinion to give an extra boost of power in your headphone if the on board one is quite. so i would look into it if i were you. not saying buy one just saying look into it.
