Hi Everyone, so i'm planning to build a high end water cooled gaming desktop, I was planning to buy the 780 ti classified but then I noticed the 980 came out. i know the 980 has 4 GB but yet again the 780 ti classified is open to power, so you can just increase the power and make it run at its max. is going to be at 1080p and might add a 2nd soon, thanks in advance. Plus I want to add maybe a second card or even third for benchmarking purposes.

More about : gtx 780 classified gtx 980

Go with the 980 classified just means it was overclocked for you which you could do with the 980 yourself.

But there isn't a 980 Classified yet, are you sure its coming out?

The 780 ti, is a dead stick in a pool now. There is absolutely no point in buying a 780 ti as of right now. It costs alot more than a 980, also being the 980 performs better than the 780 ti by about 12%. The 980 uses alot less power, which produces less heat... which leads to more OC'ing headroom.

In the end, get the 980 is better in everyway compared to a 780 ti. :)

The 980 will pull an edge over the Ti in performance even on the reference design. At this point, there is no reason not to use the 980.

True but wouldn't the 780 Ti classified go higher because of the unlocked power chip?

I'm not saying to wait for for a classified version of it to come out I'm saying you could easily overclock it your self. In addition the 780ti has been discontinued for a reason get a 980 and SLI that card later. But to answer your question yes I'm sure that a classified version(or equivalent) will come out later.

Not necessarily. They do OC a bit better than a standard 780Ti, but just because a card is faster dosent mean it competes with a different architecture.
In 780Ti vs 780Ti the classified would be better, but in Ti vs 980, there is no competition.

If you look at 970 and 980 pricing, it's going to force down prices on a lot of other cards such as gtx780ti and gtx 780 and even the 770.

Newegg has dropped $50 off most of them now. They'll drop again over the coming weeks.

780ti is now going for $450. Which make them a reasonable choice if you wanted to spend $100 elsewhere. Frankly, I would wait for the non-reference 980s to come out.
