Have 8gb ram ddr3 geforce says that only 3.8 is usable

Huge problem I don't know why it's doing this it even says in bios that I only have 4 gb. In geforce experience it says that I have 8gb but only 3.8 is usable.

Is it a new build? If so take out the sticks put them back in and then reset the CMOS I had the same problem with my first build and this fixed it.

It sounds like you are running a 32-bit operating system. If you are running windows 8 you can search for settings and then click on system. In the system type field it will say either 32-bit or 64-bit. If running windows 7 just go to start, right click on computer and then properties. In order to use more than 4GB of ram you have to be running a 64-bit OS.
