Hi, I live in an apartment where the modem (at least i think) is centralized. I have a router plugged into the Ethernet port in the wall and all my other devices hardwired into that router. The problem is that my ps4 has NAT type 3 when connected into the router, but NAT type 2 when plugged straight into the wall. If i plug my ps4 into the wall, however, all my other devices connected to the router lose wifi/hardwire connection because the router is no longer plugged into the wall. My PC plays games fine so far, but that may be different for different games. I was wondering if I plugged a switch into the wall, then all my devices into the switch, would that keep my ps4 at NAT type 2, as if it was plugged straight into the wall? Thanks in advance, and sorry if the phrasing is confusing, that's why I am asking because I am confused.

You can't run without the router if you want to use more than one device. Your problem is that you need to open some ports on the router.

What if I connected my router into the switch, and then other devices into the router? Basically I'm trying to make it as if there were two ethernet ports in the wall instead of just 1.

Ive tried DMZ and port forwarding and I simply cannot make it work. I have spent hours with zero results.

No. The first device plugged into the wall socket has to be the router. A switch can't route serveral devices to one IP address; only a router can do this. I'm afraid that I know nothing about PS4s, so I have no idea what you need to do in the way of port forwarding.
