Hello everyone. I turned off my gaming computer (built Sept. 2011) and now it will not turn back on. I think it is a motherboard issue and I am hoping for some replacement recommendations.
Nothing will power on (not even the LEDS and fans). I checked the power strip and the power cable.

Next I checked the power supply utilizing the Corsair paperclip test and the LEDs and fans powered on. I pressed the motherboard power button and reset switches, there was no response. Dr. Debug did not show any status codes. Asrock Tech Support provided a short response…..sounds like a motherboard issue.

My components:

CPU- i7 2600K LGA 1155
Motherboard – ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
RAM – G Skill DDR3 1600 PC3 12800 4GBx4
PSU – Corsair AX850
GPU - HIS ICEQ Radeon 6950
HDD - Western Digital 2T
OS – Windows 7
Western Digital 2TB
Soundcard – Asus Xonar D1 PCI 7.1
Case: Cooler Master Storm Enforcer ATX

Is this is a motherboard issue?

If so, what motherboard would you recommend with a price range of $125ish to $225ish? I have heard good comments regarding ASUS and GIGABYTE. Something that can handle a new GPU and RAM if I decide to upgrade sometime later.

I am disappointed that the ASRock motherboard only lasted 3 years. Is this average? I was hoping for 5 years.

Finally, any other suggestions, recommendations, or potential issues (in general)?

Thank you for all your help.

G'day mate.

MOBO's can be tricky beasts. I really don't want to straight up recommend a replacement but you seem to have done the due diligence to isolate the cause of the issue and yes it certainly could be a popped MOBO.

I cannot speak to the qualities of ASRock boards because I've never owned one. However the name keeps popping up everywhere I look as one to avoid. This is disappointing as I don't like the inequalities of market share that has left us consumers with only two GPU developers to choose from. I'm rambling.

My recommendation: ASUS Z97-A, ASUS MAXIMUS VII, ASUS SABERTOOTH MARK I or II (ALL 1150 socket and would require you to upgrade your CPU which I would recommend you consider anyway)

If you really want 1155 then...

If you really want 1155 then you would be need to be doin the same legwork as me because I don't have one...
