Hey guys, I'm building my own system.
I was set for a 550w power supply but then the GTX 980 came out.
PcPartpicker suggests that my system will use around 380w. Should i get a 450w or 550w supply.
I would want a semi/fully modular system. Does efficiency matter that much? i was looking at gold ones. I have kind of got it down to either the Corsair CS550M or Corsair CS450M.

If theres a better one that suits me better, please suggest.

Here is my system

Personally, unless you're looking to use SLi in the future, I would go with a 550W PSU, as that would give you some allowance for future expansion, and also for capacitors degrading with age. With regard to efficiency, I doubt you'd notice a difference on your power bill unless you were crypto-mining 24/7, however, there is an argument that the higher-rated ones use better components (there may or may not be anything to this!).

As pbm86 has suggested, the Seasonic G-Series 550W PSU is an excellent, and relatively inexpensive unit (basically, anything made by Seasonic and SuperFlower is likely to be excellent).

Into my final stages of purchasing. Made quite a few changes. I have left the option of SLI 970s so i would need to leave at least 150watts for that. Would a 650w or 700w work perfectly? I don't want to fork out a lot for a power supply, around $100 I guess. Are there specific brands which i should avoid?
