so i build this rig a while ago :

Gigabyte GTX 780 OC

Gigabyte Z87 D3H

i5-4440

1TB WD

120 GB kingston SSD

2 extra fans Cooler master

and the psu i opted for was the corsair CX 600 W v3.

When i do intensive gaming (bf4 ) and even cs:go at ultra , pc freezes and becomes unresponsive , have to reset manually for it to work. Downclocking my gpu gave me extra play time but it would freeze eventually.

I have asked before on this site if the psu was sufficient and the answer was yes so what do you think ? Gpu or Psu problem ?

What temps are you getting for GPU (from Afterburner) and CPU (from bios/uefi)?

CPU at bios is 40 degrees Celsius

GPU at idle 40 degrees Celsius

GPU at load (bf4) nears 79 degrees Celsius

They seem OK too.

Try a different cable and monitor.

go into bios and make sure hpet is enabled. if its off you will get random bsods when using win 7.
hpet is a hardware clock that 7 relies on to sync a lot of the apps in windows. it is essential to have it enabled.
(its also referred to a high precision events timer)

It might a be corrupt operating system or you might have got a bad hard drive, before going any further try reinstallng your OS and try a different HDD with a operating system on. Also have you updated the bios to the most recent version?

the last step i did was update my bios to the latest version , havent tried if that worked yet . Do you think a bios can cause the pc the to freeze during gaming ? same question for a bad hard drive ? keep in mind that i dont get bsod

yes mate when hpet is disabled your system will completely lock, lock with a buzzing audio, lock with a banded colour screen or bsod. it just depends on what app tried to use hpet and failed.
whether its the root cause of your issue is still uncertain but enabling hpet will remove a small lump from the haystack your looking for a needle in.

you never know it my just fix it...

Yes Bios updates are crucial, when you buy a motherboard it comes with the default bios and majority of the time it can cause major issues, try the bios update and if that fails try a different harddrive, I had the same situation at times,

Ok i tried updating the bios and enabling hpet , same problem . Then i tried moving bf4 to my ssd so far so good (though still need some testing before a definite answer). There is however a persistant problem which is a blue artifact when a flashbang explodes , its like a blue colored box .
