So I built a new one this year, using the following specs:
AMD FX 8320
ASROCK 970 EXTREME3
MSI GTX 770
8GB DDR3 Corsair RAM

and a 500W PSU. pcpartpicker says that it should be about 300 watts so there should be no problem in that area.

The difficulty is that I am having EXACTLY the same problem as this guy: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/302594-31-build-120c-temperature

Speedfan says my AUX is 120-130 and the computer freezes up and stops responding entirely about 2 times a day, so I have to hold down the power button and do a hard shutdown.
Any questions or assistance is welcomed,
thanks.

Posting this from a different hard drive. Turns out it's a software problem as this old vista hard drive is not having any difficulties. The other one has become much worse with 5-10 crashes per day, making it pretty much useless. McAfee full version has found nothing, rootkitremover found nothing, malwarebytes says it's all OK, roguekiller sees the ZeroAccess trojan and refuses to remove it. Looks like it's bye-bye hard drive.
