Hello everyone. First, this is my pc spec right now :

Mobo : Asus H81M-K
Processor : Core i3 4150
GPU : Asus geforce 750GTX 2gb ddr5 OC
Ram : 12gb Kingston hyper-x fury ddr3 1600
PSU : Aerocool 600w
Hardisk : 500gb WD
Monitor : LG 19.5 inch 1600x900

Well i want to upgrade my cpu to i5-4690. I know my mobo support i5 but when i survey the processor at my local shop, the sale technician said if i use i5 with my current mobo, i cannot use fully i5 power and the performance is half. It is because of my mobo restriction. He said if i want to fully use i5 power, he recommend me to upgrade the mobo. So is it true about he said?

Sorry about long post and my broken english. thanks for the help!

Solution
The H87 is the better board , if you can afford both upgrade , he is right the H81 is limited.

It is true. Your actual motherboard uses a H81 chipset, wich don't have the high-end components and enigne to deal with the i5-4690.

The Core i5-4690 needs a LGA1150 socket, so I listed for you all motherboards compatible and have a Z87 or Z97 chipset.

And here is a chart to compare the H81 and Z97 chipset, it is technical information, but all you need to know is that, usually, motherboards with a Z97/Z87 chipset have better components, quality and realibility, because they were build for the high-end user who needs good sound expecience, speed, smart power energy management/consumption and other features.

Base on the chart, that's mean if i insist to put i5 into my current motherboard,i will not get intel advance technology function?is that so?what about the raw power like core speed etc performance?same with Z97 or not?well my board support LGA 1150 so if can,i dont want to upgrade.sorry for so many question.Im still new in computer.

Sorry my bad. just checked and it can OC. I live in Malaysia and for K version is too expensive for me. Can go for 4690 only. About my question, using that processor in my board, is there any performance decrease like sale technician said or same? Do you recommend me to upgrade board or stick with what I have right now?

I just want confirmation before i buy because that sales technician said i5 performance in my board not 100% full power because board restriction. Some function also cannot use. So he recommended to upgrade my board at least ASUS H87M-PLUS or ASUS B85 Pro Gamer board.
