I have a newly built system that should totally rock, but just games "ok"... It gets a passmark score of 4726. It seems to struggle with details / lag on some high end games. I am over-expecting? Hardware is:

Windows 8.1 64 bit
Motherboard: Z97X-UD5H
CPU: Core i7-4790 @ 4ghz
RAM: 8 GB DDR3
HD 1 (OS): Crucial 255GB SSD
HD 2: 7200 typical HD
Video: AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB

I had some trouble with the setup initially... I replaced the motherboard, CPU and power-supply. I had an initial power / shutdown issue which has since gone away.

I don't know if this is related, but i also have a few issues listed in device manager... PCI simple bus communications controller, SM bus controller and Ethernet controller all have warnings / exclamation marks next to them.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated. :)

Solution
better yet, go to the gigabyte website and download the freshest available driver packs and install them all. the board hasnt been out very long, so the drivers arent appreciably old however there may updates. might as well start fresh, performance/bug fixes are always nice
