Hello TH community,

I am looking for a decent graphics card that I can use in my PC.
Specs are below -
Budget - Not much. Around the $150 mark.
Brand Preference - None. Just one that I can get in India online and fit myself :)

Let me know if you need any more info. I'll be around :)

CPU -

AMD Phenom II X6 1050T

MOBO -

ASUS M5A88-M

RAM -

8gig

Use THIS as a guide to determine value (FPS versus dollar).

You should also look at user comments to estimate card quality. $150 is roughly 9000Rp so let's look at an Indian computer store:
=sort%3Dpopularity&sid=6bo,g0i,6sn&otracker=ch_vn_computerco_filter_Categories_Graphic%20Cards]http://www.flipkart.com/computers/computer-components/graphic-cards/pr?p[]=sort%3Dpopularity&sid=6bo,g0i,6sn&otracker=ch_vn_computerco_filter_Categories_Graphic%20Cards

And HD7850 is about the same as a GTX750Ti. I'm guessing the GTX750 as closer to an R7-260X.

I saw the recommendation above for an R7-265, however you're going to have to look at what's available at your price point. If I go slightly over your budget I see THIS card:
http://www.flipkart.com/msi-nvidia-n750-2gd5-oc-2-gb-gddr5-graphics-card/p/itmdybhmvgz9mgqp?pid=GRCDYBHKZYAZFWMB&srno=b_4&ref=061ccc72-5d9c-4dbf-a81d-e0704673650f

(I don't like the Galaxy version with the small fan as it likely will be annoying)
or
http://www.flipkart.com/msi-amd-ati-r7-260x2gd5-ocv3-2-gb-gddr5-graphics-card/p/itmdpvgcazrwhejw?pid=GRCDPVGCAZRWHEJW&srno=b_6&ref=90d84e35-99b5-466d-bf36-0dba939713cc

Don't consider any of the older cards, and look around but again go by the benchmark summary I provide and look for something like:

R7-260X, R7-265, GTX750 (with 2GB), GTX750Ti

You can probably find a better store link but at least you have the information to guide you.

Conclusion:
I'd probably go with an AMD card as you have a relatively weak CPU so any games that work with Mantle may run better on your system. Hard to say if Mantle will succeed but it won't hurt. NVidia has some advantages such as Shadowplay to record but things like PhysX likely don't matter as you really shouldn't enable them nor will you care about a G-Sync monitor likely..

*Thus, unless you can find a better deal I think the MSI R7-260X makes sense if you can up your budget a bit to 10,700Rp.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. The R7 265 looks good. Is this the same as the newegg link? http://www.flipkart.com/sapphire-amd-ati-r7-265-2-gb-ddr5-graphics-card/p/itmduxmhpgsgsarg

And PSU, how can I find it out without opening the case? :) (Am ready to change it though if required!)

Once again, thanks all for the answers. This being my first thread and all, you guys have been very helpful!

Also, how does this compare to the R7 265? (a bit cheap ;))

I will check and let you know. Not home now so can't do it right away :)

For the Sapphire R7 265 Dual-X,you need a 500W PSU with at least 24A on single +12V rail and a 6-pin power connector from the PSU.
If your power supply has these specs, then you can safely put the R7 265 as well as other cards suggested, such as R7 260X or GTX 750 Ti.

Sorry for the delay guys.
Finally managed to open up the case.

Here are some images for your help. Couldn't find an option to upload here so uploaded it to imgur.
It looks like my PSU is 230VA so that sucks I guess?

Also can you guess from the pics if I have the necessary PCI ports and the space needed to get those cards up.

Btw guys, if you don't mind answering, I found this card too from the R9 series -

Are these *significantly* better ? (I guess they are the same but from different manufacturers?)

Another question - my mobo comes with an integrated Radeon HD 4250 - 256 MB. Will it cause any problems ? Can I use both of them together?

Thanks for all the help.

First,clean your case.
Second, you should change that PSU,it can only output 18A on +12V rail, which is really bad.Seasonic 620W on theitdepot.com is 5505 Rs.I would strongly suggest getting it.
Third,yes,the R9 270X is a pretty powerful GPU.But,the 1050T will be a bottleneck in CPU intensive games.

What I would do is:
1) Clean your case.It's really dirty. :D
2) Do nothing now, save some more money so you can get a stronger CPU and a new mobo.
3) Then get the Seasonic 620W,the 270X,the CPU and the mobo. An i3 4150 and an H81 mobo, like the ASUS H81M-D PLUS would suit you well.

OR:
1) Clean your case.
2) Get the R7 265 now and and upgrade the PSU as well.A new PSU is a must if you want a dedicated GPU.
3) Save money to get an i3 4150 and an H81 motherboard later.
