i recently bought a GTX 770 2GB which in hindsight was a mistake considering the release the the 900 series, so i was wondering if it would be worth selling my GTX 770 and spending and extra £100 odd on the GTX 970 4GB?

As NONE4YOUU has mentioned, if you bought the card, you should return it quickly and get the GTX 970 even if there may be a minor restocking fee, the GTX 970 is an awesome performance/price card. Now it would be a different story if you somehow got the GTX 770 for like $250 or less possibly, then it might be not so much of a big deal but if you paid for the GTX 770 roughly the same price as the GTX, then return it no doubt.

If you want a gpu thatll last you 3 - 5 years (even then it will only slow down a LITTLE) then return that and get a 970. Even after 3-5 yrs u can jut sli the 970 and youll be fine agaon for another 3-5 years.
