Defective Motherboard or...!?!?

Hey guys,

I have a MSI MPower Max Power AC Z97 mob, Intel i-5 4690k CPU, Geforce GTX 480 GPU, 2x4GB G.Skill Memory and a CX750M PSU.

I recently just bought the Motherboard and Processor and realized my GPU isn't displaying anything on the monitor, my mouse and keyboard at this time worked. So I tried hooking it up to my motherboards HDMI so I can get into the BIOS and no video either. I thought it could be my PSU (had a 600W at the time) and bought a new one (the 750) and now my keyboard, mouse and video is not working. Do you think my Motherboard is defective? (when I turn it on everything goes on and works and keeps running, so no random shutdowns, I also have a system speaker and it hasn't beeped on me unless I take something out, example: took out memory and gave me 3 beeps with base memory failure).

Any and all help is welcomed and greatly appreciated, if you need any more clarification just ask!

PS (the reason I'm posting is because I was struggling for a week to get my PC working after my previous Mob gave up on me)

PSS( would also like to let you know I have plugged in a different memory card (PNY 4GB) and it is still not working as well as 2 different, but older, graphics cards and still nothing)

Solution
In mobo outputs work, can go into BIOS and ensure that primary video is set to PCI-E (not onboard, then try the GPU card, on the DRAM loosen your CPU cooler then snug it back down, not overly tight, if too tight in a corner or side, it can affect the MC (memory controller) from not getting full contact with the pins, which would explain the problems with channel B (slots 3-4)

Ah.potential bios issue. The 4690 is has well refresh which needs a bios update. See if the box is marked with a BIOS version although I doubt it is (will be on a sticker if the information is there, with the serial number and production date)

Yeah, everything turns on and I have checked and double checked all my pins.

I checked and I'm not seeing a BIOS version on the box, is there any way to be able to change/update this?
Plus I think I should mention my Motherboard is spitting out a code 10, 19, 15, 00, 55 and now and then when I reboot it A1.

So I did some research and correct me if I'm wrong but; I have to get a lower end processor that has a bios (and that will fit in this motherboard) to be able to install the latest bios for the i5 4690k processor, then I can insert my processor and it should work?

z97 and h97 motherboards shouldn't have issues with the Haswell Refresh cpus.

The debug codes are at least displayed, so you will need to work with that information. For example, code 55 means that the motherboard is not reading any RAM. Try fixing that first by putting only a single stick in, and testing all 4 RAM slots one by one. If you somehow fix that, you still have 4 more debug codes to go through.

Have you contacted MSI tech support yet?

Hey, I just tested the ram slots and looks like the 3rd and 4th ports were giving me problems (I plugged my Ram cards in as the manual prescribed in the 2nd and 4th) I plugged each one in individual and got A2 with each individually in and with both in the 1st and 2nd slots. Now my keyboard and mouse is all working, still no video, going to try motherboard outputs.

And I have not yet for I was hoping I can get a solution faster either by myself (which i sadly failed) and now through you guys. (kinda see them as a last resort)

Thats the problem, I cant get into the BIOS or anything to update or check since I have no video so I've got no idea. And my initial thought (since i've been working on this pc for a while) was that it could be the mobo. I've rebuilt this thing 4 times now to find the problem and thus I decided to create this board just to clarify and make sure I did everything and what your opinion is before I make my final decision.

Plus, I don't have another processor that can fit in this motherboard to update it (since thats what I read on other articles you could do).

I'm going to see if I can get a replacement on the mobo, if I get the same results then it has to be the cpu or another component. within a couple of days I'll check back but I will still be open for any other solutions(s) out there
