Okay first of all, i am fully aware this is a rather open ended question - so with that in mind i will expand on details here.
I enjoy making stuff using Vue (E-on software product) Vue is a 3d Environment rendering application. Vue has in my opinion 3 main hardware requirements.
- CPU : Is the work horse, Vue uses the CPU intensively for its rendering
- GPU : From my understanding the GPU is only used in the preview section, a very small screen designed to provide a real-time preview of your work.
- RAM : Ram in Vue's case, is required for the number of object (complex materials, trees, rocks, atmosphere and light data, etc.)
As it stands i have a very old machine that should be soon replaced, however i am kind of torn between my gaming and my 3d rendering. I have often wondered whether i would be better having a multi-use PC or two dedicated but separate machines.
Having said that, i have come across the Xeon Phi, which seems great however i have no idea if i could make a single machine, that had a decent G-Card for gaming and a Xeon Phi, or whether thats just overkill.
Has anybody advice on this?
