Hello !

This is my first post and my first CPU OC and I'd like to ask if you guys think that I'm safe to overclock with my specs (motherboard) or if its too dangerous or impossible. I've read on this forum peaple that had my processor but couldn't overclock it because of their motherboards. I've also read OC FAQs about my processor but I would like some opinions.

My objective is to get my processor to around 4.5GHz to play the famous dolphin emulator. My processor is bottlenecking my whole PC and I didnt want to buy a new motherboard plus an intel CPU so I turned to overclocking.

My specs are:

Processor: AMD FX 6300 6 cores 3.5 GHz With stock cooling (I'm planning to buy a water cooling device from corsair)
Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A-UD3
Power supply: CX-500 500W corsair

I'm new to this kind of thing any kind of help will be appreciated

John

Solution
the 38A provided by yor psu are enough for your specs and can allow some overclocking. i wouldnt try any, till you get that water cooler!

Thank you so much for your answers,

My GPU is an AMD Radeon HD 7850 2Gigs by the way. I'm going to try to do some overclocks then very small ones just to test some speeds.
